Ok, here goes.

We use a textured paper. It’s grain goes one way (up and down if you have a 27” x 20” puzzle, side to side if you have a 20” x 27” puzzle). Therefore, when you get stuck, organize your pieces with the grain going the same way. Each piece can only go one of two ways, not four. It’s not perfect but it makes finding shapes much, much easier.
